The annual Mother’s Day plant sale, hosted by the Greenhouse Project, offers two ways to shop this year: either online on Friday, May 8 with pickup during the physical sale, or on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Green Central on Carson High School’s campus.
The sale consists of an array of locally grown plants. This event is one of the community’s most anticipated, as TGP staff, students, and volunteers provide quality plants delivered at a good price, with proceeds used to continue TGP’s mission of growing, giving, and teaching for a healthier, greener, and more sustainable community.
“The community’s support of both the April and Mother’s Day Plant Sales has grown over the more than 10 years we’ve hosted and as we’ve worked to expand our offerings,” said Karen Abowd, TGP board president, and founder. “This has grown into a bit of a Carson City tradition that not only provides quality plants for local gardens, but also resources needed to work forward toward our ability to create more educational opportunities in agriculture for our students and community, and also to bring healthy food at no cost to our community’s food insecure, which was the initial catalyst for why we began the TGP endeavor.”
